Flowers galore

I took these flower shots at Cameron Highlands recently. These flowers remind me of Lyna, who was absolutely crazy about flowers when we were in Australia. Hope she is reading this one.

One boring afternoon

I was lazy and bored. Too bored until I didn't know what to do on a hot Saturday afternoon. TV was lousy and it's too hot to go out. I decided to do some housekeeping. Scavenging around the store room, I found my old notebook, lying dead.

After the recent Edison Chen's fiasco, I decided to dismantle my notebook and get rid of the harddisk. (Not like I'm having any porn inside though).

How old was the notebook? Let's check out the specs. It was using the 1st generation of Pentium. It had 32mb of RAM and the measly 250mb HDD was too small for anything! (The current thumb drive of 4Gb is already 16 times its capacity.) And best of all, USB was unheard of. I bought it in 1997 and it cost my Dad a good RM5k then.

I had so much memories about it. I used it for my first internet connection. I conquered my C&C Red Alert and slashed and hack through the hell of Diablo with it. Yeah, I also did numerous copy & paste of uni assignments with it too. Too slow and too much wear and tear (literally, cause the lcd screen was tore off from the lower keyboard half) rendered it completely unusable.

A sad fact, I'm a Donkey

Thanks to Joanne for this email.

Once upon a time a Washerman was bringing up two donkeys.

Let us say Donkey-A and Donkey-B.

Donkey-A felt it was very energetic and could do better than the other. It always tried to pull the washerman's attraction over it by taking more load and walking fast in front of him.

Innocent Donkey-B is normal, so it will walk normal, irrespective of the washerman's presence.

After a period of time, Washerman started pressurising Donkey-B to be like Donkey-A. But Donkey-B unable to walk fast, got continuous punishment from washerman. It was crying and told personally to Donkey-A "Dear friend, only we two are here, why to compete with each other....we can carry equal load at normal speed ".

That made Donkey-A all the more energetic and next day it told to washerman that it can carry more load and even it can run fast also.

Obviously happier washerman looked at Donkey-B, his BP raised and he started kicking Donkey-B. Next day with smile, Donkey-A carried more load and started running fast. But it was breathtaking for Donkey-B and it couldn't act that way....But the washerman was frustrated, so he harassed Donkey-B terribly, and finally it fell down hopelessly.

Then Donkey-A felt itself as a supremo and happily started carrying more load with great speed. But now the Load of the Donkey-B is also being carried by Donkey-A., and still it has to run fast. For some period it did, finally due to fatigue it got tired and started feeling the pain. But washerman expected more from Donkey-A. It also tried best, but couldn't cope up with his owners demand.

The Washerman got angry with Donkey-A also and started harassing to take more load. Donkey-A was crying for long time and then tried its best... But it couldn't meet the owner's satisfaction. Finally the day came when due to frustration the washerman killed Donkey-A and went for searching some other Donkeys.

Its an endless story.......

But the moral of the Story in Corporate and social life is......

"Think all colleagues are same and that everyone is capable. Always Share the Load equally. Don't ever act smart in front of your Boss and never try for getting over-credit. Don't feel happy when your colleague is under pressure."

It doesn't matter if you are A or B, for the Boss you shall always be a DONKEY.

Kind of sad, eh??

Winds of change

What the heck! The Star calls it Tsunami instead of wind. I can't believe I actually stayed up until 3am to follow the election results. (Didn't even stay up that late for football matched).

One thing for sure, no party will undermine the power of internet and sms anymore. Bloggers are liars? Well, we have bloggers as MPs now. Not one. Not two. But many more to come. Certainly the political scene in Malaysia will be much different from the past.

Vote Me

I have a starking paradox here. Let me put things into perspective.

By today, I am sure the politicians are literally at their wits end to get your sacred vote. I mean, how often do you see politicians mingle with the fish mongers, vegetable sellers and hawkers in a wet market? And how often do you see them cycling in kampung, kissing babies and shaking hands with the elderly?

Why? Why would these people abandon their luxurious car, skip their golf sessions or a fancy meal in the hotel, just to meet up with the rakyat? What is it for them? Why do these politicans flock to those places where the rakyat congregrates? To get elected, of course. Simple as that.

Well, if you are elected, you are expected to serve. To champion the cause and to hear the plight of the people. And that's a LOT of work.

Compare that to my company's sport club. The Annual General Meeting is coming next week, where a new Committee will be elected from the members. The attendance is predicted to be horrendous, because if you are not present at the AGM, you can't be elected into the Committee. No one wants to be in the Committee. The existing Committee members were "forced" into it (I am one of them, btw). Instead of lobbying for votes to get elected, here, it is totally opposite.

The reason behind it? I am not sure. Perhaps, after you are elected, you are expected to serve. People don't like to do work and serve. Instead, people like to be served.

Perhaps it's time to follow the political parties. Just throw in some carrots, and the people will be jumping in. But then again, our Sports Club can't offers APs or contracts for mega construction projects. Hmmmm.... maybe additional 2 months bonus for each Committee Member will do the trick? Just a thought.
